Hedge stops & exits
How hedge tranches get their stops, where those stops live, and how the pair closes.
Arming
- Attached means watching. No order exists until price reaches the first ladder distance.
- A tranche's stop arms once its own profit reaches the activation level. That is the whole condition, and nothing disarms it: armed stops only move toward profit. Protection is two-state, armed or not, with nothing in between.
- Max w/o stop limits how much hedge may be open without an armed stop.
- While any hedge leg is open, the paired take profit owns the exit: when main + hedge together reach the target, both close. The deal's own stop loss is suspended meanwhile.
- Where eligible, the paired exit rests on the exchange ("Exchange conditional exits · N/M verified"); otherwise the app watches it, which only works while the app runs.
Where hedge stops live
The venue caps resting conditional orders. Paired exit children reserve slots first, then armed tranche stops are placed nearest-to-price first. Stops on the exchange fire even if your server is down.
- Bybit: armed stops rest on the exchange. Bybit allows 10 per symbol.
- Bitunix: armed stops rest on the exchange, up to 10 per pair.
- Bitget: armed stops rest on the exchange, up to 10 per pair.
- Aster: armed stops rest on the exchange, within a validated or conservative budget.
- WEEX USDT perpetuals: armed stops rest on the exchange within the budget; a slot the exchange refuses falls back to an app-managed stop.
- Binance: armed stops rest on the exchange. Binance allows 200 across the account. If the account is in One-Way mode, every app order fails closed, including entries, DCA, take-profit, stop/protection, reduce-only closes and cancels: manage or close it on Binance, then clear every position and open order in both books so Hedge Mode can be set.
App-managed stops. Everything beyond that budget is watched by the app. While the server is down, an app-managed stop does not fire.
Actions on a running hedge
- Close hedge legs: closes every tranche, keeps the position attached.
- Retry exchange stops: asks the exchange again for stops it refused.
- Detach: closes hedge legs and hands the position back.
